Dries Van Noten is one of my all time favorite designer. Born and bred in Antwerp, he went to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 1980.
He counts as one of the famous Antwerp Six, a group of influential avant garde fashion designers, all of them graduated from the same Academy (including Ann Demeulemeester and Dirk Bikkembergs).
Came from a family of garment makers and tailors, his first shop Het Modepaleis was opened at Nationalestraat in Antwerp in 1989. His work is now available in more than 400 stores, boutiques and galleries including in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The Het Modepaleis is spread over three floors, it displays men’s and women’s designer wear along with accessories to go with it. In 2008, he was awarded the International Award of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
