Beauty fix : Oil-based products

Beware and behold! Today I am going to talk about some beauty products, more precisely about oil as beauty product! I am far away from beauty addict, nor beauty specialist (by the way, my two favorite beauty blogs are Viviana Does Makeup and Lisa Eldridge Makeup) but I just want to share some products that I’m using and I love.

I just discovered oil usage in beauty products recently. Olive oil has been one of key elements in many beauty products as well as argan oil but recently coconut oil is also having a moment right now in the beauty world.

Without further ado, here they are!

The first one is the Porefinist Cleansing Oil from Shu Uemura. This one is travel-sized one that I bought at the airport, just to try it out. I love that it is light and not at all aggressive on my skin yet it cleanse them thoroughly.

The second product is Ogx Nourishing Coconut Oil Anti Breaking Serum. My thick hair tends to be very fragile and they break easily in autumn and winter so this coconut oil infused serum helps a lot. I usually use this immediately after drying my hair with towels.

This is my latest addition to the collection. Honestly, I don’t really need this but when I read rosehip oil, I was immediately sold. I’ve tried this just twice on my skin so I cannot really tell you if it is making a difference. However, I put this quite a few times at night on my hair and it really softens them in the morning.

Back to my thick hair story. Since I straighten them a lot, so the heat is doing a lot of damages to them (turns out this is not the only reason, read more here). So if I am washing my hair the next morning, I will put this rosemary oil by the french brand Weleda overnight especially at the tips.

The next product is a classic in a beauty drawer. The Body Shop tea tree oil is a skin-saver especially when you have your girl-time-of-the-month breakout. I do agree that the scent is not that pleasant but it’s efficient and purse-friendly buy. I even use a few drops of this oil in my steam facial at home(step-by-step here) .

Last but not least is Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil. This oil helps to purify your skin and tighten the pores. Again I use this when I feel some acne bumps and minor blemishes are coming. Magic happens during the night and the next morning my skin is much softer. The essential oils in this product, mainly rosemary and lotus really balance out my oily skin.

One may think that putting oil onto your oily face may be counter productive but these beauty products have proven this theory wrong. After all, if Gisele, Miranda and Zooey like ’em, they must be good right?

And you, do you have any oil-based favorite products? Do share!
